Multilingual Learners and ESL Services
Sayreville meets the needs of our learners:
Sayreville embraces the growing diverse population of learners in our district and meets the needs of hundreds of multilingual learners in grades Pre-K through 12 in a variety of ways. Our multilingual learners (MLs) are serviced through ESL pull out with one of our district certified ESL teachers daily. Additionally, with over 200 staff members trained, most of our MLs have Sheltered Instructional Observation Protocol (SIOP) trained teachers. Our district hosts annual family events to bring the community together and provide additional support for the students. For the past several years, Sayreville has also funded and facilitated a free Adult ESL program for immigrant funding eligible residents.
Our community at a glance:
Our MLs speak over 23 languages representing nearly every contintent in culture!
Spanish is by far the largest language representation with over 165 students speaking Spanish or Castillian.
Our next highest populations speak Portuguese, Ukrainian, and Arabic with Urdu growing each year.
