Language Arts Literacy instruction is a Pre-K through Grade 12 continuous program that looks to advance student mastery in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Our program begins in PreK with foundational development of prereading and writing aligned to the Tools of the Mind programming. Students in K-5 participate in a balanced literacy approach utilizing programs such as Fountas & Pinnell's Classroom, Heggerty's Phonics and Phonemic Awareness, and for identified students needing interventional support, Sondays. In grades 6-8, students participate in a double block and Language Arts and benefit from a district developed comprehensive program in all literacy domains. Students in 9-12 receive daily instruction with a newly revised curriculum utilizing the Study Sync program of study. The district also utilizes several digital programs to enhance instruction including Age of Learning's MyReading, Achieve 3000, IXL for LAL, Belouga and others.
All of our curriculum guides can be accessed for your review on the Curriculum & Instruction main page via OnCourse.
Our miltilingual learners receive additional instruction in English Language Arts. More about that program can be explored on the Multilingual Learners in Sayreville page.
