Important Health Update - Information
There are no known cases of MRSA in Sayreville Schoools. However, we must all be proactive in following the New Jersey Department of Health recommendations to protect our students, staff and community.

NOTICE: Our schools currently use cleaning solvents, soaps and disinfectants which are effective against MRSA and other "antibiotic resistant" strains of bacteria.
Pennies for Patients
The Truman Elementary School students and their families continue to demonstarte
that "Together They Can Do Great Things" for others. During the month of January,
the students of Truman Elementary School participated in a special community service project called
"Pennies for Patients" for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The
school collected $1,347.08 for this cause. Special thanks to Mrs. Charlene Kenny,
school
nurse, for organizing and implementating this school-wide endeavor. She presented
a lesson to each grade level explaining this cause and what it meant to have this
disease in a way that touched each student with a sense of empathy. Also, many thanks
to Mrs. Barbara Mangiaracina, Co-President of the PTO, who converted the pennies
into dollar bills at a local bank. After all, "Together We Can Do Great Things"
at Truman School!
Jump Rope for Heart
On February 29, 2008, over 300 Truman Elementary School students in grades 1 through
3 participated in "Jump Rope for Heart". This event gave the children an opportunity
to benefit from physical activity as well as do something to help others. The Truman
School jumpers were an enthusiastic group and a fun time was had by all. Hats off to Ms. Allison Cenci, physical education teacher, for organizing and implementing
this worthwhile activity for our students. Also, thanks to the PTO for their involvement
and help with this project. The school raised $3,011.13 for American Heart Association.
Spring Food Drive and "Sock Hop"
During the month of March, the Truman Elementary School participated in the M.C.F.O.O.D.S.
Spring Food Drive. Once again, the student and their families demonstrated their
kindness and good will by making a differnce for the Middlesex County families by
donating an overwhelming amount of non-perishable food and necessities. In addition,
the Truman PTO sponsored a "Sock Hop" in March in which they collected 150 pairs
of socks for a local Veteran's Home. Special thanks to Ms. Lisa Greene for delivering
the socks to the Veteran's Home in Menlo Park.
Future Business Leaders of Association (FBLA)
Congratualtions to Sayreville War Memorial High School student Pearl Shah who took
first place in Public Speaking II at the 2008 NJ FBLA (Future Business Leaders Association
Conference and Competitions.
Kudos to Sayreville War Memorial High School Junior, Ramon Santiago who placed 5th
at 140 lbs. at the 2008 New Jersey State Individual Wrestling Tournament. This is
the highest place for any junior wrestler in Sayreville Wrestling history.
We would like to
also recognize senior Michael Knight who qualified for the State
Tournament, but unfortunately was injured and could not compete. Qualifying for
this event is, in itself, a major accomplishment. Speedy recovery, Mike!
Congratulations to Alex Ratajczyk, who broke the high school's 50m Freestyle Record,
but more importantly broke a GMC record and to freshman swimmer, Maureen McKenna,
who was awarded GMC 1st place Champion in the 100m Backstoke. Way to go Bombers!!!
2008-09 Tentative Budget
